Steel leather edge pliers for pressing glued edges and layered leather. Protective leather is already bonded to the broad, flat jaws to help prevent the pliers from marking your work.
Description
Kevin Lee Leather Edge Pliers provide controlled pressure across glued leather edges after the pieces have been aligned. Their broad, flat jaws spread pressure across the edge, making them useful when assembling wallets, bags, straps and other layered leatherwork.
Leatherworkers commonly glue pieces of leather onto the jaws of edge pliers to protect the work from pressure marks and direct contact with the steel. These pliers arrive with protective leather already bonded to both jaw faces, saving that preparation and making them ready for the bench.
Position the jaws over the aligned edge and apply only the pressure needed to bring the glued layers together. Test the pressure on an offcut first, particularly when working with soft, finished or easily marked leather.
