Wet and Dry Sandpaper for Leather Edge Finishing 240-800 Grit
£0.65
Wet and dry abrasive sheets for leather edge finishing — 240, 400 and 800 grit. Full sheet, cut to size. UK stock.
Description
Wet and dry abrasive sheets for leather edge preparation and finishing — sold individually by grit. An essential consumable in any systematic edge finishing process, used before burnishing compounds to progressively smooth and close the leather fibres at the cut edge.
Standard full sheet format, approximately 230 x 280mm, which can be cut or torn into convenient strips for bench use. Suitable for wet or dry use depending on preference.
Choosing the right grit:
- 240 grit: Start here on rough or freshly cut edges. Removes material quickly and levels the surface for the next pass.
- 400 grit: Second pass — smooths the surface prepared by the 240 and begins to close the fibres.
- 800 grit: Final sanding pass before applying Tokonole or Gum Tragacanth. Produces a fine, even surface that responds well to burnishing.
How to use:
Cut or tear a strip to a comfortable working size. Sand the edge using consistent, even strokes along the edge length. Work through the grits in sequence — do not skip steps. Finish with your chosen burnishing compound and burnishing tool.
