About Hideout Craft

A workshop supplier for traditional hand leathercraft — stocking tools and consumables chosen from the bench.

Who I Am

I am Magnus — a practising leatherworker working in traditional hand techniques. Hand stitching, hand cutting, hand skiving, manual pattern making. I have a deliberate preference for the slower, more considered side of the craft. The kind of work where the tools matter and the process is part of the point.

What Hideout Craft Is

Hideout Craft is a workshop supplier — not a hobby store, not a catalogue of everything available. A focused range of tools and consumables chosen from the bench. Products I have used, tested, and rely on in my own work.

The range is deliberately narrow. Depth over width is a choice, not a limitation. I would rather stock five things properly than fifty things adequately.

How I Choose What to Stock

Every item on this site is evaluated against one question: does it do what a serious leatherworker needs it to do, consistently, over time? If the answer is no, it does not get stocked. If it stops answering yes, it gets dropped.

That means Kevin Lee pricking irons — the best French-style iron at this price point, used daily at my bench. Seiwa Tokonole — the edge burnishing compound I reach for on every piece. John James harness needles — consistent and reliable, the needle I would recommend to anyone stitching seriously. Renia adhesives — a professional-grade range arriving in the UK for the first time through Hideout Craft.

Built From the Bench

Some products on this site started as solutions to my own workshop problems. The Arbour Press Foot Adapter exists because I needed one and could not find a UK supplier. That is the logic behind everything here — if I needed it, other makers probably do too.

The Short Version

No dropshipping. No gimmicks. No products I cannot stand behind from personal use. If you are looking for a supplier who uses what they sell and can tell you exactly why — you are in the right place.
