OKA Cutting and Punching Board

Description

The OKA Cutting and Punching Board is a dense, reversible work surface made in Japan for leathercraft cutting and punching. It provides a proper surface beneath pricking irons, stitching chisels, round punches and leather knives while protecting the bench underneath.

Both faces can be used. The Medium board is useful for smaller work and tighter bench spaces, while the Large gives more room for panels, belts and straps without repeatedly repositioning the leather.

For fine-tooth stitching irons, pair the board with a Rhino SupaSeal Vinyl Pad. The board itself is built to be a long-term fixture on the bench; the vinyl pad is the part designed to wear, so it takes the brunt of fine-tooth work and is cheap and easy to replace once it does.

Avoid driving tool teeth unnecessarily deep into the board. Once one face becomes heavily marked, turn the board over and continue using the other side.
