Kevin Lee Leather Skiver – French Style
£43.95
Kevin Lee French-style leather skiver with alloy steel 63 HRC blade and ebony handle. Available in 8mm and 12mm widths from UK stock.
Description
The Kevin Lee French Style Skiver, also commonly referred to by Kevin Lee as a French Edger, is a precision edge-thinning tool for controlled skiving, thinning, and feathering work in leathercraft.
The blade is made from alloy steel and hardened to 63 HRC, giving it excellent edge retention for regular bench use. This makes it suitable for tasks such as thinning belt returns, feathering glue edges, reducing wallet panels before assembly, and trimming leather thickness in controlled areas.
The ebony handle is shaped for a comfortable grip during the controlled, repetitive motion that skiving requires. It gives good hand control across both vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned leather.
Available blade widths:
- 8mm: Versatile everyday size and a practical starting point for most makers
- 12mm: Wider blade for slightly broader skiving and thinning work
Other Kevin Lee French Edger sizes may be available to order on request, depending on supplier availability and order timing.
Key features:
- Alloy steel blade hardened to 63 HRC for lasting sharpness
- Re-honable for long-term use
- Ebony handle with ergonomic form for comfort and control
- Suitable for vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned leather
- Useful for edge thinning, feathering, panel reduction, and controlled skiving work
