Kevin Lee Leather Rougher

£23.00

A Kevin Lee 4Cr13 steel leather roughing tool with a black hardwood handle and a 4mm working width, for preparing leather edges and glue areas.

Description

The Kevin Lee Leather Rougher is used to abrade a defined area of leather before gluing, giving the adhesive a better key to bond to. Roughing the surface, rather than gluing straight onto smooth, closed grain, is a common step before joining edges, gussets and other glued leather assemblies.

Drawing the blade across the area to be glued lightly breaks up the surface fibres, increasing the surface area the adhesive can grip. The blade is 4CR13 steel hardened to 55HRC, set into a black hardwood handle sized for a controlled, close grip.
