Description
Pure beeswax bar for thread waxing in hand leathercraft — one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve your stitching. Running thread across the wax before stitching reduces friction, helps the thread pass through leather more smoothly and gives it a light protective coating that improves durability and helps resist moisture over time.
Beeswax also reduces tangling during longer stitching runs and improves the grip of the thread against itself in a saddle stitch, producing a tighter, neater result. It is particularly useful with linen thread, which benefits from waxing more than pre-waxed polyester.
Each bar is 100% natural cosmetic-grade beeswax, hand-cut and left untreated with no additives or fragrance. Approximately 25g per bar.
Uses:
- Thread waxing before hand stitching
- Light burnishing of leather edges
- Conditioning and protecting tool handles and wooden burnishers
- General workshop use wherever a natural wax is needed
How to use for thread waxing:
Pull a length of thread across the surface of the bar two or three times before stitching. Run the waxed thread between your fingers to work the wax in slightly. The thread is then ready to stitch.
