The Kevin Lee Basic Maul is a straightforward striking tool for everyday leathercraft work. It is suitable for driving pricking irons, punching holes, setting tools, stamping, and general bench tasks where you need controlled, repeatable impact.

The nylon head helps protect your tools from direct metal contact while still delivering a clean strike. At 280g, it is light enough for regular use and works well for smaller leather goods, finer punching work, and general hand-stitching preparation.

This is the more affordable option compared with the Kevin Lee Craftsman Maul (Tapered). It does not have the tapered head or weighted brass core of the Craftsman version, but it is a solid starting point for a basic leathercraft bench kit or as a lighter secondary maul.
