About Hideout Craft
About Hideout Craft
A workshop supplier for traditional hand leathercraft — stocking carefully selected tools and consumables for practical leathercraft use.
Who I Am
I am Magnus — a practising leatherworker working in traditional hand techniques. Hand stitching, hand cutting, hand skiving, manual pattern making. I have a deliberate preference for the slower, more considered side of the craft. The kind of work where the tools matter and the process is part of the point.
What Hideout Craft Is
Hideout Craft is a workshop supplier — not a hobby store, not a catalogue of everything available. A focused range of tools and consumables chosen for genuine leathercraft use. Many are tested or used in my own workshop before being added to the range.
The range is deliberately focused. Useful depth comes before unrelated width: I would rather complete a product family properly than add products simply to make the catalogue look larger.
How I Choose What to Stock
Every item on this site is evaluated against one question: does it do what a serious leatherworker needs it to do, consistently, over time? If the answer is no, it does not get stocked. If it stops answering yes, it gets dropped.
That means Kevin Lee pricking irons — a well-made French-style option I use regularly at my bench. Seiwa Tokonole — the edge burnishing compound I reach for on every piece. John James harness needles — consistent and reliable, the needle I would recommend to anyone stitching seriously. Renia adhesives — all four Aquilim products, 315, 330, GL and SG, stocked together in the UK, with product information drawn from Renia fact sheets and direct supplier guidance. See the full list of brands we carry on our Leathercraft Brands page.
Built From the Bench
Some products on this site started as solutions to my own workshop problems. The Arbour Press Foot Adapter exists because I needed one and could not find a UK supplier. That is the logic behind everything here — if I needed it, other makers probably do too.
The Short Version
No dropshipping. No gimmicks. No products without a clear leathercraft purpose and a sound quality case. If you are looking for a supplier who uses what they sell and can tell you exactly why — you are in the right place.
