Leather edge finishing supplies and burnishing compounds for traditional hand leathercraft. Tokonole, Gum Tragacanth, Fiebing's Edge Kote, wet and dry sandpaper, and ebony burnisher slickers for clean, polished leather edges. A finished edge is prepared in stages: wet and dry sandpaper smooths the cut edge, a burnishing compound such as Tokonole or Gum Tragacanth is worked in with a burnisher to compress and seal the fibres, and where a painted rather than burnished finish is wanted, Fiebing’s Edge Kote gives a solid, sealed edge colour instead. Edge preparation (bevelling and sanding) always comes before finishing — skipping it is the most common reason a burnished edge looks patchy rather than smooth. New to edge finishing?
